| [Maple Story] What a day! |

Well today was a Day of Days on Maple Story. It's the 3rd Aniversary event this month, so everyday is two hours of double exp and/or double monster drops, and for today only was 12 hours of both. I was focusing on my future Ice/Lightning mage, and all sorts of interesting things happened:
-Leveled up twice-
-Completed several quests-
-Got THREE Maple weapons- Maple Havoc Hammer (from a Ribbon Pig or Pig) Maple Kandiva Bow (from a Stump or Dark Stump) Maple Karstan (from a Ghost Stump or Wooden Mask)
-Saw and defeated TWO fake bosses--both King Slime- The first I did completely on my own (only took two hits o_O), but a high level character popped up on the second. :/

Yes, I still live. Life and work are busy and good, though the latter leaves me feeling unsociable when I get home, hence the lack of posting for the past months. >_>;;; So here's a little slice of my life right now:
Anybody remember this little girl? Auryn's grown a lot! She's deep in blue in this pic ("in blue" = about to shed; the outer layer of skin is separating, which dulls out the colors).
And here she is as she normally looks.
Brihs, an Anerythristic (Anery) Motley. An absolute sweetheart, and currently the longest of my snakies (although Auryn is heavier).
Rage thinks snakies are fascinating; he likes to smell them. Brihs was the first I introduced to him (many months before this pic was taken).
Briars, Brihs' sister/clutchmate. She's skittish and twitchy, and has bitten me many times, lol.
But she's also gorgeous. (And not nearly as nippy as she used to be.)
And Calanthe, my lovely little orchid--a Lavender Aztec; she was an X-mas present from my brother and his girlfriend. This pic is also my desktop at work. (She's got blue eyes!)
 Her patterning is absolutely fantastic!
And lastly, a new calico ryukin--her other side looks even better than this, but she's still in the squirmy, fast phase, so it's hard to get pics. She's got matte scales (as opposed to the normal metallic) with a few spangle scales thrown in, so you can see her gills through her gill cover on this side.
( Okay, and a couple of humorous snake feeding pics (nothing graphic) ) |

Woke up this morning to two very good/neat things:
1. New balloon molly fry. They were all in the calico portion of the tank, so I've got my fingers crossed that these will be lyre-tail calicos (but I really need to make some new dividers, so I don't have to keep wondering which fish are the parents). Haven't counted them yet, or taken any pictures, but my quick estimate this morning was half a dozen or so.
2. Auryn (my little amel corn snake) shed last night for the first time since I got her. And it was a complete, clean, intact shed, from snout to tail tip. I snapped a couple quick pics, which are still on my camera, but I also want to take photos of and measure the old skin.
So, those are like, new life and a fresh start, right? Good things. |

Btw, I've been posting more on MySpace lately. It's all been fairly ho-hum, general life stuff, but it's been updated much more frequently than here. The address name is the same as my username here, so if you have MySpace and would like to friend me, if I know you I'll definitely friend back.
I'm waaaaay overdue on fish updates, but there are a lot of changes coming up over the next few weeks, so I may hold off until things are settled down a bit. I will continue to post fish updates here, for those who are interested. |

I taste like Menthol.
I am refreshingly different; some people don't appreciate that. My sharp honesty gets up some people's noses, while others really enjoy it. I am something of an acquired taste. What Flavour Are You?

If I wasn't Menthol, I would be:
Cor blimey, I taste like Tea.
I am a subtle flavour, quiet and polite, gentle, almost ambient. My presence in crowds will often go unnoticed. Best not to spill me on your clothes though, I can leave a nasty stain. What Flavour Are You?

I'm still playing Maple Story a fair amount in what free time I have. Between fish and work (especially the latter, since I've been working 10-hour days to make up for a sick day) I haven't had much time lately, but I'm hanging in there. (I'm at work right now, btw. T_T)
Since Nexon just released Nexon Game Cards at all Target locations, on Sunday I went and got one of the $25 ones. I used it to buy a little black kitty. :3 And I named it "Niksha."
Now, some of you already know this, but for those who don't, I really like pretty Russian boy's names. When I named my kitty, I just thought up something completely at random; just putting sounds together. Then today I decided to see if it actually meant anything, and it turns out that it actually is a Russian boy/girl name! XD (Though almost all of the name sites I found it on only listed it as a girl's name--not surprising given that it apparently it means "kiss." :p)
Tonight I'm hoping to go and try out one of the pet parks. Btw, in non-pet-related news, right now I'm at level 23. |

I spent close to 12 hours yesterday and 6+ today playing Maple Story. My left wrist hurts now. T_T (It was that 1+ hour of near constant chopping at giant mushrooms that really did it. -_-;;;)
And last night my dreams were tainted with game moves and music.
I blame Apple for all of it--she posted a rec for it on her MySpace page. :p
Awesome and cute game though, which is why I'll probably play a bit more before I go to bed. >~<''' |

| [Fish] New Emerald Catfish, and misc. |
|
|
| 03:51pm 01/01/2007 |
| |
I decided to go ahead and get three of the Emerald Catfish* yesterday, since I didn't want to wait until the new 20 tank was ready, only to find that all the kitties were gone. And since the new 38 was only occupied by my Common Pleco, it's not as if I didn't have room.
(While I was at the store, I ran into a friend from elementary school, who I haven't seen in many years. She pointed out her husband and kid to me--I feel so young! ._.;)
Here's one of the new kitties last night, plopped on one of the planted containers. Unfortunately, the angle doesn't show the green coloring very well, but you can kind of see it. *squintsquint*
They were pretty mellow after I added them to the tank, and at least two of them were utilizing the shady areas I set up, but all day today they've been scooting and zipping around all over the place, out in the open--it's very cute and amusing to watch. :3
So the plants that I ordered should have been delivered on Friday--they got to the local FedEx place before 9 that morning. The lighting setup and substrate have also been in Colorado since Saturday, but have also not shown up at my house yet. If things don't get here sometime today, especially the plants, I'm going to be very peeved at FedEx. >:(
I need to do another big water change on the goldfish tank. The nitrates are down from 80ppm to 40ppm, but that's still a lot higher than I'd like. I'm hoping that before that I can get by Ace or someplace like that and get a little thing so that I can hook up the hose to one of the bath faucets; that way there'd be little-to-no wait for temp adjustments.
*Correction to my last post: I found out while I was researching that the commonly called "Emerald Green Corydoras" is actually not a type of Corydoras, though they are a closely related species. |

| [Life][Fish] X-mas and fish updates |
|

So. Looots of stuff going on lately, as should be expected given the holiday.
My brother (Ryan) and his girlfriend (Amy) spent several days with us, including Christmas, and they brought their new black lab puppy (though she's not going to be a puppy for much longer), Clover, with them.
Clover's still in training, so to speak, but she's a very good girl: she had to stay with me alone for several hours one evening while her "parents" were away, but after a little bit of whining at first, she settled down and hung out with me, sleeping on me most of the time and playing with cat toys the rest. :p I've now become the favorite "aunt" who she knows will spoil her with tons of petting. ^^
The X-mas booty list: 38G tank w/ stand, hood, light, heater, and filter (Ryan) Cute kitten-themed life-phrases book :3 (Amy) Pentax Optio digital camera (Dad) Fluval 405 filter for goldfish tank (Mom) Snowshoes and poles (parents)
Tuesday I got the new filter set up, and Wednesday was spent doing an almost 100% (everything except what was in the filters) water change on the goldfish tank, in the hopes of knocking down the super-high nitrates I've had for the past several weeks, as well as getting the new tank set up.
I filled both tanks with water from the outdoor hose, since I didn't want to have to fill/lug/dump/repeat almost 80 gallons of water in milk jugs, so I had to wait about 7 hours for 3 heaters to bring the goldfish tank up to a reasonable temp before I could put the fishies back in. I also got a different light for the tank--an Agua-Glo fluorescent bulb, which is high in red spectrum light and apparently good for boosting black pigment in goldfish coloring; my Ryukin is now looking a very bright, vibrant, attention-stealing red-orange (which reminds me of a "neon-red" colored pencil I had sometime in the past). :3
I had all of the heaters in the new tank overnight, so that it would be all warmed up and ready for my pleco this morning. Last night he camped out with his plants and slate in a big plastic storage tub. He was zipping all around for a good while after I put him in the tank this morning, but he seems to have settled down (I haven't turned the light on today, though.) Pretty soon (maybe even this weekend?) I'm going to be looking for some pretty Balloon Mollies to add to the tank. And one of my LFS currently has some Emerald Green Corydoras, which I would love to have for my new 20 hex, so I may go ahead and get a couple of those.
For the 20G tall hex tank I got a little while back, I ordered a new lighting fixture (since the one it came with is only rated for 8 watts 9_9) w/ bulbs--a total of 80 watts--(and an LED that mimics moon/starlight *o*), some good aquatic plant substrate, and a few different plants (Cabomba, Narrow-Leaf Temple, and Micro Sword--I also want to get Willow Moss and Hornwort, but the former I won't be able to order until next week (site's on vacation for the holidays) and the latter is seasonal, so I'll have to wait until spring). I'm hoping that everything will get here by this weekend so that I can get the tank set up before I go back to work on Tuesday.
Eventually, the inhabitants of the 10G will be moved to that tank, and the 10 cleaned out and put in the basement to make room for a new tank stand (already purchased) for the 20 that the pleco was in before. Then I'll move the albino goldie over to there and my 36 will no longer be overstocked. ^^' |

Well I'm not going anywhere today:

Also notice the nice neighbor who decided to clear off the sidewalk in thigh-deep snow. You may also note the over 4-foot pile of snow in our neighbors' yard across the street, which they made shoveling their driveway last night:

So, the snow's slowed down quite a bit since yesterday, but it's still coming down, and we are snowed in. :3
I'm still taking pictures, so I may post some more later. |

The third ever in my life (thankyousomuch Jefferson county public school system). T_T It's been blizzardy since this morning, and a little before 11 we got word that Lockheed would be closing at 1. Shortly thereafter it was announced that everyone from my company was encouraged to head home a.s.a.p.
I had gone in with my parents, and my dad had to finish up work until about 12, then my mom took her time finishing up with her stuff, so we didn't get off LM property until 12:45. Then we stopped at the grocery store (took until about 1:30), and then my dad had a doctor appointment, so we didn't get home until about 3...
I should have taken one of my co-workers' offers of a ride, then I probably could have been home by 11:30. :p
Anywho, TOMORROW IS A SNOW DAY! :D :D :D Which means that my holiday break has begun. ^^
Tomorrow I plan to spend a large chunk of time kicking butt on my brother's girlfriend's x-mas present. (Which isn't going to be done by Sunday, but I'd like to at least give her a completed sketch.)
I've got tons of fish updates which I'll hopefully get around to sometime over the next week and a half. And possibly other stuff. Currently I seem to be hitting a sugar crash (mmm, festive cookies :9), so I think I'll stop for now. ^^ |

( Birthday Calculator )

You are The Magician
Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.
Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing, you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.
The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.

| [Fish] One ugly little goldfish *heart* |
|
|
| 01:45pm 03/11/2006 |

( The whole story )
Four days later, he/she is still doing very well.
Now, a big part of the reason the fishy stuck in my mind so much was his/her unusual coloring (the particular tank he/she was in had a few interesting colors, including a rust-red oranda). My newest little fishy is lace-blue (blue with black edges on the scales) and chocolate. *o* On top of that, when the light hits the scales just right, the chocolate parts shine bright, new-penny copper, and the blue parts go iridescent purple. OoO
Of course, that doesn't change the fact that, unless viewed from directly front or back, he/she is one scrawny, deformed, ugly little fish:
(This pic doesn't show the coloring very well, and only a tiny bit of the iridescence.)
So cute at the same time though! He/she is already looking less scrawny, and I'm hoping that over the next few months he/she will bulk up and become a nice, big, robust fish like my other goldies. ^^
On that note, here are some new pictures of my other goldfish:
Albino.
Blue/chocolate oranda. (Now with a toffee head. :p (That tiger wen is starting to grow a bit, too.))
Orange/white oranda (or ryukin? He's looking more and more like one, including a possible hump, and it's certainly possible that there was a mix up between the breeder and when I got him at the LFS). He's getting to be a big boy now, too, over 2 inches from nose to tail base. ^^

| [Life][Work] Finally, a big update |
|
|

So. I just finished my first week of my first job. ...... It's good.
The work is enjoyable, all in all, though of course it has its ups and downs. Thursday was a big up day, and then Friday afternoon was a bit of a downer. But overall it's good, and I'm very glad that I'm working there. The people are really nice, too, and are almost constantly cracking jokes; they like to tease me about looking sixteen. :p
It's a small cubicle farm, and right now I'm still trying to decide what I'd like to bring in to decorate mine. Next week I'll probably bring in a houseplant, and after that I'm really not sure. ^^'
Hmm, well, I'm feeling kind of distracted right now, so this entry is probably a bit flakey.
Details: The company I'm working for is WJ/A Systems. I'm working at the Denver location of Lockheed Martin (same place as my parents--my dad and I actually work in the same building, just down the hall from each other), so the commute is really good--only about 15-20 minutes normally; I've got a badge, with one of the worst photos of me ever on it. XP *flakeflake* I think I'll stop here for now.
Tonight there's a Halloween party with RMCAD peoples, including angi_chan, so I'll be going to that. I'm think of wearing the Renaissance costume that Apple made, since I wore the Pepper costume last year, and right now those are the only two costumes I have. :p |

My pelvic bones and butt, they cry. And so do my legs. And my back and neck. And my eyes and forehead are sore. But at least my arms/hands seem to be doing well, for now. I went on a motorcycle ride today with my parents, and some of their local biker-buds, to see the "fall colors" up in the mountains. My dad told me later that it was supposed to be a 3-hour ride... It was 6. ;_;
I ache.
Anywho, only four more days 'til NDK. I decided that this year was going to be a no/minimal stress year for this particular con (had plenty enough of that for AX and SDCC, thankyouverymuch), so I don't have anything big to worry about. --But I do still have some things to take care of, particularly since I decided to go ahead and participate in the art show again. :D
My NDK to-do list: -pick up framed Sohryu cut-out from framing place (don't know what day, but they said it would be done before Friday) -finish holder for business cards (this is probably the biggest thing I have to finish, but it shouldn't be a problem) -make and matte prints for sale -finish up business cards and print a bunch -dig out costumes--this year it's just going to be Pepper and...uh...Renaissance barbarian girl(???) (with Woodbaby! :D) -no packing! Didn't bother getting a room this year, as it's only about 30-45 minutes between the hotel and my house, and I'm not planning any costume changes or anything. |
